lyrics

Pine Box

Six by six, and six feet deep,
Into a pine box we lay,
All of our fears, we’ll bury our tears,
Beneath a mound of clay.
The headstone will read:
Here lies one who was saved;
Where once there was fear, where once there were tears,
Now only ashes remain.

Signal in the sky,
I read you five by five;
Through the open door,
I see the way before.

Seven by seven by seven they sound,
Trumpets heralding dawn.
I think that this time, I’ll leave it behind,
And step into the day.
The headstone, will read:
Here lies one who was saved;
Whose soul saw the light, spread its wings and took flight,
And flew into the day.

Signal in the sky,
I read you five by five;
Through the open door,
I see the way before.
