Pillars 03:53
Pillars My heart was beating, ringing loudly in my ears; I never heard a single word, I was lost within the years. And I opened up my tired eyes and watched the midday sun Beating down upon the sand, reddish orange in hue. And I remember in the past, when she used to say: It’s only for a moment, and then it fades away. But I still can see her there between the Pillars of Iram, Standing tall in the desert sand; Endless colonnades, Where we used to play. Pillars of Iram, Swallowed by time and the desert sand; Countless centuries. Never more to see… I stood upon that rock and watched the landscape change, Endless waves of golden brown, forever rearranged. And I watched the sun in the sky above sink lower in the west, Casting shadows all around, reddish orange and blue. And I remember in the past, when she used to sing; Solemn promises remain, I find myself remembering When I used to see her there between the Pillars of Iram, Standing tall in the desert sand; Endless colonnades, Where we used to play. Pillars of Iram, Swallowed by time and the desert sand; Countless centuries. Never more to see… And I heard the voices calling From the city far away. Bells were ringing, night was falling, In the east, rose a newborn star… Forty days and forty nights, I wandered through this land, In this empty quarter, naught but the transience of man. Pillars of Iram, Once rose above the desert sand; Endless colonnades, Where we used to play. Pillars of Iram, Buried by time and the desert sand; Countless centuries. Never more to see…. about

In honor of Record Store Day 2016, we present an offering in the form of a demo. “Pillars” first came into being back in early 2011, as one of the first batch of songs that actually ended up comprising the bulk of material for “Volume II.” The song has gestated and morphed in many directions since that time. This current practice room demo displays its most recent personality. A bit of additional creative license has been taken with the melodic theme of the track, providing the outline for an accompanying intro and outro. We hope you enjoy!
